Warzone

"Warzone was fun. I took many good pictures." - Fantomeye
"It got the Ronando two thumbs up...from me." - Ronando
"Great story. Nice backgrounds and lots of action! Definitely worth downloading!" - NeoHunter
"Fast, furious and fun. Felt more like the FS2 campaign than the actual FS2 campaign in places. And you can't get better than that." - Kellan

The final update for this site. I designed an all new look to reflect the now static status of the Warzone website. Some areas have been removed and this could be called into question regarding the nodemap that I created. I've got a new map on the way and it will be available soon.

Meantime, check the BlackWater Operations website for my new campaign updates!

Warzone is officially code locked and has gone into the editing stage. Unless there are major problems with the missions, the design, or a completely unanticipated problem crops up, Warzone is finnished. Hooray!

Standby for updates on official release date.

August 2, 2000

I'm happy to report that all missions have been finalized and the campaign has gone into the very final stages of testing. Estimated release date of 2 weeks from now. Voice pack work to follow.

July 20, 2000

So where is Warzone? I had fully expected to release the campaign about a week back if all went well. Unfortunately two things happened.

  1. My computer's performance dropped like a rock and I can't play FreeSpace 2 anymore (no worries, new system on the way). So I can't test any of the missions that I've been tweaking for the last two months.

  2. Several beta testers voiced concerns on the similarity of the plot to the FreeSpace 2 plot. Several changes were made and the last few missions have been totally revamped.

Fortunately, overall the campaign has been well recieved by the beta testers who have told me to tell the general community that "this campaign may have been long in the making but the finnished product should be well worth the wait".

I'd also like to announce that another ship has been added to the final tally and this one is also being kept a secret. Whats that you hear? Two secret ships? Dizam straight :). I'll be releasing the campaign the moment that its been finnished and fully tested. The voice version may accompany later.

June 3, 2000

I've made some tweaks to the site and posted a new entry on the status update page. All missions for Warzone are now complete and only beta testing remains. Check the status update page for the full details. Estimated release date for Warzone is early July.

May 4, 2000

Plot details have been finalized and all but the last mission are close to completion. There are currently three missions in serious need of tweaking, of adding messages, and putting the details on them. There are several other missions with minor tweaking problems. I'm adding extra dialogue to several of the missions to make them more interesting in the interludes.

Voice acting will only accompany the missions themselves. We'd be looking at a MASSIVE download and alot of time wasted for doing the breifings, debriefings, and command briefings. During the missions however I've got a large bunch willing to help (yes that means all you crazy foos who submitted your voices). We'll be getting to that last. Beta test begins soon. Thats all I can say for now.

Monthly updates here we come. Sorry for the long periods in betwene updates. I've been really quite busy with everything under the sun. Warzone is still progressing slowly and a group of beta testers has been chosen to assist in the testing which will commence soon.

Since I have no real news updates, take a look at the newest pictures on the screens page for some awesome images.

March 13th, 2000

Just a word to all those who submitted auditions for voice acting in Warzone. I haven't forgotten you all! Infact I very much need you all. Once editing is completed on Episode 1 missions, I'll be sending out packages to most or all of you.

I've also updated the Squads page with recent changes to the logos and details of history. Most likely there isn't much but I have changed the number and the logo for the Vasudan squadron, I've also changed the logo for the 92nd Lonestars squadron. The 21st Vasudan Battlegroup has become the 12th.

March 2nd, 2000

Well, its time for a good ole update. I've got some very special updates today. First, of all, you'll be able to get a glimpse (thats all for now) at Warzones secret ship, crafted by Dark in the screen shots section. Its not much and it'll make you all wanting more, but thats all for now.

There is also a status update in the Status area. My apologies for this campaign taking longer than expected. Believe me, it'll be well worth it.

February 12th, 2000

I grabbed a few new screens in the last few runthroughs of Warzone testing and so I've posted a few new screen shots to gander at. I've also updated the status page and have included a estimated date to release of Episode 1. Its currently slated for later February or early March. Enjoy!

February 5th, 2000

Long time since I last updated. The good news is that the groundwork for most of Episode 3 is complete, the storyline is nearly finnished and things are starting to come together. There still quite a bit of work to be done but I expect that I'll still be able to make my late February release date at least for Episode 1. This all depends apon how much time I have in the next few weeks and how the voice overs go. I will not release this campaign or any part of it beyond the original demo until its ready to go. So keep your fingers crossed. The downloads section is now open.

December 29th, 1999

I've done a whole redesign of the site. You'll notice that new areas such as the StarChart and the Squadrons section are now available. Go check those out for some new info!

December 11th, 1999

New screen shots added. Check them out, plus check the Status page for a bit of an update.

December 4th, 1999

Due to popular demand, I've decided to polish off the first mission of my upcoming FreeSpace 2 campaign called Warzone. The demo can be downloaded by clicking here.

Included is a readme and a single mission file. Follow any instructions required and have some fun playing.

December 3rd, 1999

I've been able to get a bit of work in on Warzone since the last update and the first episode is looking good. A long way to polishing things off, but its a start. I'm thinking about releasing a one mission "demo" of the first mission but I'd like to get some feedback on this idea. You want a Warzone demo mission? E-mail me here.

November 29th, 1999

The site has been updated into its current form with room for more information and quite a few revised features. I'll be attempting to keep weekly or bi-weekly updates on the progress of Warzone. I'm aiming for a late December release, but I may not get time to finnish until after Christmas holidays starts. Stay tuned for updates.
