Weapon Tables
You probably already have a favorite loadout for different types of FS2 missions.
But have you ever wanted to compare weapon specs? If so, you have come to the right place.
I have extracted this information from the FS2 table files, and put it in an easy to read format.
In dogfight missions, certain weapons have different characteristics. The makers of
Freespace2 did this to even the playing field. You should reconsider
taking that Kaiser into a dogfight, unless you want to have 3/4 of your ships power into guns.
Description of fields:
| Velocity |
Speed of weapon in meters per second, if fired when your ship is not in motion. Of course, weapon velocity is greater if you are moving. |
| Range |
Equals weapon velocity times weapon life time. Again, if you are moving forward, the range increases.
For secondary weapons, this number is also the minimum range for target lock. |
| Fire Wait |
This is the time, in seconds, between each weapon shot. Lower numbers mean you can fire more quickly. |
| Damage |
Destructive power of the weapon. This number is not as important as the next three parameters. |
| Armor |
Damage per hit to your target's hull, assuming its shields are down. |
| Shields |
Damage each hit does to your target's shield. |
| Subsystem |
Damage per hit to unshielded subsystem. Of course, you gotta hit the subsystem. |
| Energy |
Primary Weapons only - Each primary shot takes a certain amount of energy. This number represents how much. |
| Cargo Size |
Secondary Weapons only - Smaller numbers mean your ship can carry more missiles. |
| Lock Time |
Secondary Weapons only - This is the minimum time it takes to achieve target lock.
If you or your target are moving, or your target is not exactly centered in the crosshairs, target lock takes longer. |
