Thanks to Freespace Watch and Telefragged, i have the site all moved and working again. I just got my FTP space, and all the files are uploaded (including a high-limits version of cob2pof that will let you have a lot more geometry and materials....but it eats more memory (funny...when i typed that last part, i got an "out of memory message in my HTML editor ;) ). You'll find all the working links over in downloads.

I have a new host for the site, Volition Watch. None of the download links are working right now, but i'll fix them as soon as i can.

I'm working on the special points tutorial in the help section. After this i'll make a tutorial on makig tables, then i'll have a complete modeling tutorial (except for making the model - you'll have to learn truspace or 3DSMax on your own).

COB2POF ready

I've finished my latest program, COB2POF. This time, instead of doing only FS1 models, it can output both FS1 and FS2 messages. It still has a few bugs, but these are from cob2fs2, so you won't be getting a buggier program by using COB2POF. I'll try to fix these bugs as soon as possible; if anyone has any problems, you can report them to me and i'll try to fix them.

I also hope to add support for more special objects (shield, detail levels and debris are already supported. In a message to the FDL, i said

I'm almost done my second cob conversion windows interface, COB2POF. This time it can output both FS1 and FS2 models, but i have question for all the modelers on the list: When you put gun turrets (and other points) on your model, what precision do you need for the position of the turret, normal, firing points, etc. As you should know, cob2fs/cob2fs2, and my programs, can make shields, detail levels and debris with special subobject names. I would like to add more options soon: gun turrets, missile turrets, engines, and more. My best idea so far is to name objects with name like gturret99-1-1.00-2.00-2.43, so you could add gun turret information and have the gun turrets made in the pof, instead of having to use FSMM to add them. Is 2 digits enough accuracy, or would you need more? Do you have any better ideas for sub-object naming?

I'll upload the new version tomorrow morning.

source code released

I have permission to release the source code, so i'll enable the links and upload the source zips. The program was made in Borland C++ Builder 3 Standard, but the interface is pretty easy to make in any class library.

I'm nearly done the site (only have to finish the help section), but i'll put it up and send a message to the FDL. I just have to upload the program, and then it will be ready. The download that includes source won't be up yet, because i need to check if i can include the source, but if I can, i'll put it up right away.

I have the frames and news page set up, only 4 more to go! The beta test is over now, and as soon as the site is up, i'll have the version 1.0 ready. This program is a port of cob2fs to windows.
