The Story
The Mirfak system, located on the outer edge of Terran-Vasudan space, had been previously unexplored. With the exodus of the Capellan refugees, the abundance of incredible untapped resources became open to the Galactic Terran-Vasudan Alliance. Using these resources, the GTVA was propelled into a new prosperous era. Running forefront in the race for minerals was the Sunspot Mining Company. With such an abundance of resources, the Sunspot Mining Company was able to expand into a second and even greater company named Sunspot Technologies, which began to develop new technology for the GTVA fleet.
The first and by far the greatest technological innovation, which Sunspot Technologies has developed, is the method of mass-producing spacecrafts and installations at four times their previous construction speeds (further information on this process is classified level Rho). With this method, the Terran-Vasudan fleet was quickly rebuilt. However, not all of the Terran-Vasudan space was as prosperous and successful as other parts. Since the Capella system had been a large center of resources and commerce, the immediately surrounding systems' economies collapsed creating system-wide hunger and rebellion. These systems include Gamma Draconis, Vega, Adhara and Procyon A.
Piracy now runs rampant in these four systems, even after the Gamma Draconis - Ghenna jump node was stabilized using the Knossos technology. At the heart of the piracy, is a clan under the leadership of Vincent Scurry, a veteran of the Second Great War. Using his influence in the GTVA, Scurry managed to recruit many Terran officers and pilots. With these recruits came access to a number of starships, weaponry and supplies. His main base of operations is believed to be located somewhere on the fringes of the Capella Nebula, but it remains elusive. All attempts by the GTVA to locate and remove the pirate influence from these four system has been futile and been met with heavy resistance. Meanwhile, in the Delta Serpentis system, once adjacent to the Sol system, the construction of the first fully functional Knossos portal built by the GTVA is near completion. The portal has been named the Elpis Reunion Gate after Elpis, the Greek God of Hope. Plans are now underway for the first test of this gate which will take place within the next few months.
You have been assigned to the GTD Aquataine and are the squadron leader of the 70th Blue Lions (your predecessor having been killed when the Capella star went supernova).
The GTD Aquataine is the flagship of the newly reconstructed 3rd fleet (the majority of the old 3rd fleet was destroyed in the battle for Capella). The 3rd fleet was once based in Capella but with the destruction of the star, the Aquataine's standing orders are to patrol the Vega sector and smash down any pirate attacks. There are rumors that your squadron may be the one chosen to guard the Elpis Reunion Gate during its historic test, but these are only rumors. And so we begin |
